CURIOUS ALICE STUDIO
I rediscovered my creative spark through experimenting with colour and playing creatively with silk fabrics and dyes.
Through this experimentation my silk scarf collection grew and I started selling through the online platform Etsy (back when it was for small artists and makers). I later expanded my practice to include working with textures in lace and even started working on cotton clothing.
During this time I started to become more and more considerate of the textile waste my work was producing and began to create accessories such as little bags with my dyed fabric scraps. All my makes have been made in Brighton in various home studios across the years.
I took a creative hiatus in 2019 to care for and subsequently grieve my mother. I had a creative job working as a sewist and then in customer service at The Emperor’s Old Clothes helping our customers design their dream garments. With enough on my plate I decided to shelve Curious Alice Studio until inspiration returned.
I have now found my creative spark once again feeling drawn to experiment with various media including but not limited to painting, needlework and mosaic.
These days I am much more inspired by the natural world but with my lifelong interests in layering and texture.
My current work is more focused on creating work that inspires me to get out explore more connections between the natural world and my creative practice.
